Farm Pack: The Complete Guide

This is literally the tool I used to get the real numbers in my gold-making guide — here's how the tracker actually works and how to set price sources up properly.

I built Farm Pack because I was sick of farming a spot for an hour and having no real idea afterward whether it was actually good, just a feeling. Guessing at gold/hour from memory is exactly how you end up repeating a mediocre farm route for months because it "felt productive," when an actually tracked session would've told you otherwise. Every gold-per-hour number in my gold-making guide came from this addon's own session tracker, not a stopwatch and a guess. This is the deeper version of what's on the addons page.

1.How the Farm Tracker actually works

Click Start and it records gold per hour, total gold earned, nodes gathered or items looted, and session duration and zone, live, the whole time you're farming. Click Stop and it's saved automatically to the Sessions window, so you can go back later and actually compare one spot against another instead of relying on memory. This is exactly how I know the pickpocket-junkbox numbers, the Northrend hybrid numbers, and every other figure in the gold guide — I ran the tracker, not a mental estimate.

2.Routes

Load a saved route and it displays directly on your minimap and world map, which matters more than it sounds once you're trying to follow an efficient path through a zone you don't know well. Routes export to a share string — select all, copy — so you can hand a working route to someone else instead of trying to describe it in chat, or import one someone's shared with you.

3.AH and Mail popups

A panel appears automatically the moment you open the Auction House, showing the estimated value of whatever's sitting in your bags ready to sell. Another appears at the mailbox specifically to speed up bulk-mailing farmed goods to a bank alt. Neither requires you to open a separate window — they just show up when you're already at the relevant NPC.

4.Setting up price sources properly

Scan Bags calculates your total bag value on demand, but only as accurately as whatever price source you've configured. Farm Pack checks TradeSkillMaster first if it's installed, then falls back to Auctionator (bundled in the same download) or plain vendor price if neither is available. Configure the priority order in Config → Price Sources rather than leaving it on the default, especially if you run TSM alongside it — getting this set correctly is the difference between a session summary that reflects the real market and one that's quietly wrong.

5.The Auctionator dependency

A tested Auctionator build ships in the same download as Farm Pack, and it's required for accurate price scanning when TSM isn't installed. If you already have a different Auctionator version installed, delete that folder and use the bundled one — running a mismatched version alongside Farm Pack is the most common cause of scan values coming back wrong.

6.How I actually compare two farming spots

This is the workflow behind every comparison in the gold-making guide: run a full, uninterrupted session at spot A, stop the tracker, note the gold/hour from the Sessions window, then repeat the exact same process at spot B on a similar day and time. Server population and competition change the number more than people expect, so I try to test candidate spots under roughly similar conditions rather than comparing a Sunday evening session against a Tuesday morning one. The Sessions window keeps a real history, so after a few days of casual testing you end up with an honest answer about which spot is actually better for you specifically, on your specific realm, rather than trusting someone else's numbers from a different server.

7.Troubleshooting

If your gold/hour looks wrong immediately after a session, check your configured price source first — a Scan Bags value that includes items priced at vendor instead of market will always undercount. If Routes aren't displaying on your map, confirm the route was actually loaded (not just imported) from the Routes window before you start flying; importing and loading are two separate steps.
